Praised for her evocative performances and captivating sound, violinist Karisa Chiu has garnered critical acclaim on the international stage. Her first prize win at the 2021 Isangyun Violin Competition resulted in her debut with the KBS Symphony Orchestra at the Seoul Arts Center, and she has since gone on to perform in some of the most renowned concert halls around the world such as Severance Hall and the Casals Forum.
This past spring, Karisa received her Master’s degree at the Cleveland Institute of Music. She previously earned her Bachelor’s degree at the Curtis Institute of Music and is currently pursuing an Artist Diploma at the Juilliard School under the tutelage of Catherine Cho and Donald Weilerstein. Her preceding mentors include Jaime Laredo, Malcolm Lowe, Ida Kavafian, and Almita Vamos.
In addition to her performance career, Karisa is co-director of the chamber collective, the Plymouth Chamber Players, in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
